Travel Grants for the annual meeting of the Astronomical Society of Japan

The Astronomical Society of Japan partially supports the travel expenses (only for transportation) of full (student) members to attend the annual meeting, financed by the annual membership fees of supportive members.

• Only those who meet all of the following criteria are eligible to apply
  
  • Be a full member residing in Japan who has paid the current year's membership fee at the time of application
  • Be a speaker at the annual meeting (including poster presentations)
  • Do not have research funds available to themselves
  ※ Persons wishing to transfer from an associate member to a full member: provisional approval must be given at the time of application.
• The budget for travel grants is limited and does not always provide a sufficient amount. Please talk about your application with your supervisor and refrain from applying if you are able to get travel expenses from other sources.

  ※ Your supervisor will be contacted for confirmation after the input deadline.
  ※ Application must be completed by the presentation application deadline.
• The amount of the grant is determined according to (lowest fare from your institute to the annual meeting venue - fixed price) x fixed rate, in consideration of the application status and budget.
  The amount to be paid will be notified by e-mail. Approximately one month before the annual meeting.
  If you are planning to supplement the shortfall in transportation expenses with other funding sources, you are not eligible to apply for this grant. The cost of accommodation is a separate expense item and may be paid from other funding sources.
  
• Even if the travel grant is approved, the grant will be cancelled if no actual participation takes place. Proof of participation will be provided by check-in at the venue at the meeting venue.
  The amount of the grant will be transferred to the applicant's bank account after the Annual Meeting.
• When the event is held entirely online, no travel grant will be provided.
